She offers them advice about how to reach out to local women and host get-togethers. 'I'm no guru,' she insisted to me. The Pink Ladies often emphasise their lack of experience compared to seasoned male agitators. Many have never protested before. 'We're just little women,' they said. 'We're an innocent little bunch'. Point: "Footage obtained by Stand Up to Racism [Wikipedia] can exclusively reveal that Orla Minihane, vice-chair of Epping Forest Reform UK and Reform UK election candidate, shared a stage with member of neo-Nazi group at a recent Epping protest against refugees being housed in the Bell Hotel. Minihane is vice-chair of Epping Forest Reform UK and a leading figure in the protests against the Bell hotel. The video shows Minihane speaking on stage and sharing a megaphone with Callum Barker. [Wikipedia] Stand Up to Racism this week exclusively revealed that Barker was a member of neo-Nazi group Homeland, and himself has been a key organiser the Epping protests. The speech was shared and celebrated by prominent neo-Nazis including Mark Collett [Wikipedia] and Homeland themselves. Criticism: The notion that British women are under attack from 'invading migrants' can be seen as an 'othering' [Wikipedia] and Denial Dehumanization tactic, which seeks to position two groups in adversarial relation. For example, a common contemporary example is used to attack LGBTQIA+ people known as Dogma Anti Gender Ideology Genderism Gender Theory where parents are characterised as heroes defending their child's innocence e.g. Warfare Hero Guardian of Childhood Innocence In doing so, the racist overtones often follow the characterisation Purity Racial White Women and Black Men The tactic often seeks to characterise immigrants negatively as supposed 'illegal migrants' as per the logic of 'crimmigration' e.g. Legal Crimmigration of Immigration Refugee Asylum Seeker and the issues surrounding their temporary accommodation e.g. Immigration Refugee Asylum Accommodation while their claims are fairly adjudicated.

It cuts to a clip of him throwing a man to the ground and deporting him. At first glance, he looks like a rising rapper courting controversy. Except Danny Bones is not real. He is an AI-generated persona – the front for an anonymous influencer 'collective' called the Node Project. Others on the far-right who have reportedly become paid-up members of Restore include Jared Taylor, an American white supremacist previously banned from the UK but who has subsequently travelled over anyway to speak at the annual conference of Patriotic Alternative (PA), one of Britain's more prominent neo-nazi groups. Taylor said of his approved membership: 'I just joined Restore Britain. Apparently you can become a party member without being a British citizen. Criticism: the discussion pivots on the expectation that difference/similarity is the sole consequence of lived experience - where in the case of Scholar Kehinde Andrews [Wikipedia] Spiked Rakib Ehsan [Wikipedia] - who are both Black Asian and Minority Ethnic BAME - it is necessarily their 'Blackness', which determines their worldview. It is a fallacious conception which fails to recognise that complex nature of how worldviews are shaped. For example, the simple distinction that the two commentators are non-white doesn't automatically mean that their perspectives should be aligned. For example, there is a concept known as Belonging White Adjacency [Wikipedia] where there is an assumed cultural hegemony which some members of a non-white or marginal group seek to align with to bolster their sense of worth and social status. It's the notion that Discrimination Racism Internalized as illustrated in the famous Discrimination Racism Internalized Doll Test (Legal Defense Fund., 2024). And so, following the same logic - while the perspectives of Andrews and Ehsan must necessarily align - similarly, the perspectives of Lubna Farhan and Stephen Yaxley-Lennon AKA Tommy Robinson for example, must necessarily conflict [see] because on the face of it there is no commonality between being a British Pakistani (as Farhan identifies) and being aBritish far-right activist/ethnonationalist (as Yaxley-Lennon identifies).
Context: "In the 1940s, psychologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark designed and conducted a series of experiments known colloquially as 'the doll tests' to study the psychological effects of segregation on African-American children. Drs. Clark used four dolls, identical except for color, to test children's racial perceptions. Their subjects, children between the ages of three to seven, were asked to identify both the race of the dolls and which color doll they prefer. A majority of the children preferred the white doll and assigned positive characteristics to it. The Clarks concluded that 'prejudice, discrimination, and segregation' created a feeling of inferiority among African-American children and damaged their self-esteem" (Legal Defense Fund., 2024).

Criticism: The piece rests on the assumption that Farhan's perspective is somehow representative of all British Pakistanis (because her ancestry/parents are/were Pakistani Muslims) and that there is an assumed incompatibility between white and non-white British people - with the corollary being, that 'race' is a valid determinant - despite being widely understood to be a cultural construct and pseudoscientific belief. [Wikipedia] Instead, her perspective is better understood as a case of what Kimberlé Crenshaw describes as 'intersectionality' [Wikipedia] http://newpractices.co.uk/SubjectivistEpistemology/#O1islM0ytkE where as Crenshaw explains, our identities are the product of various overlapping social, cultural and political identities (such as ethnicity/cultural heritage, gender, class, and sexuality) i.e. https://newpractices.co.uk/SubjectivistEpistemology/#O1islM0ytkE Where in the case of the Farhan + Yaxley-Lennon interview, both have significant overlap in terms of their lived experience centring on their shared experience of growing up in Luton (as well as seemingly, more general sociocultural circumstances). Additionally, Farhan's criticism of Pakistani citizens (and recent British immigrants) and their supposed "victimhood mentality" can be understood in terms of the phenomenon known as 'displaced abjection' [Wikipedia] - where as Elizaveta Gaufman and Bharath Ganesh explain, is a phenomenon characterised by the behaviour of 'punching down' (attacking those who are perceived to be lower down the same social hierarchy). They discuss this in context with Mikhail Bakhtin's [Wikipedia] theory of the 'carnivalesque' - where as they explain: "carnival culture degrades a marginalized group... This degradation of a targeted marginalized group is what we frame as 'displaced abjection,' in which the carnival protagonists focus their anger against someone who is lower than them in social hierarchy" (Gaufman, E. and B. Ganesh, 2024, p.52). Significantly, Yaxley-Lennon seeks to attribute British Pakistanis (which he presumably intends as a proxy for a particular characterisation of 'Muslims') for a so-called failure of their own 'cultural integration' - as if all British Pakistanis have absolute agency over their own circumstances (and are not beholden to anyone else). And for comparison, consider this in relation to so-called 'British expats' and their resistance to integrating with local cultures (choosing instead to form "Little England" 'enclaves/bubbles'). And so, Yaxley-Lennon's comments here allude to the misapprehension that we - especially, groups who are defined in terms of their ethnicity - are 'genetically predisposed/determined/hard-wired' to behave in a stereotyped manner e.g. 'Muslims are by nature separatist' etc. and therefore, represent an existential threat to non-Muslims (such as Yaxley-Lennon et al.). It's a conspiracy theory known as 'the great replacement' - a phenomenon, which Bharath Ganesh theorises as 'white thymos'. Which as he explains "white thymos describes a complex of pride, rage, resentment, and anger that is created through informational and affective circuits that create the perception of a loss of white entitlement" (Ganesh, B., 2020, p.894). It's a 'grievance politics', whose particular anti-Muslim manifestation is sometimes pejoratively characterised as 'Eurabia' e.g. http://trigg.gr/t/122659 where supposedly Muslins are conspiring to usurp the authority of 'legitimate Brits'. For Sara Ahmed, it's a phenomenon, which represents a type of warped conception of love/patriotism known as 'nativism'. Presumably, the virality of the clip is key to Ekpunobi's selection here i.e. 'success begets success'.
